About Me, RavenCoven / RavenStitchCraft

Greetings, Fellow Darkling,

I’m Gizem. Designer, stitcher, professional overthinker, and the resident witch weaving threads in the dark here at RavenCoven.

Let's get one thing straight: if you are looking for traditional cross-stitch patterns of quaint cottages, polite floral alphabets, or "Live, Laugh, Love" signs, you have definitely taken a wrong turn in the dark woods (I'd watch out for the wolves if I were you).

But if you’ve ever looked at a beautifully stitched hoop and thought, "This is lovely, but it really needs more anatomical hearts, cryptids, and a mild sense of impending doom.." welcome home.. You’ve found your coven!

Where to Find Us Lurking

From Corporate Shadows to Stitching Magic

My journey into the arcane art of cross-stitch actually began at my grandmother’s hearth. I was just a girl, wide-eyed, watching her weathered hands cast silken spells onto linen. She taught me the quiet magic of the needle and thread.

Years later, armed with a graphic design degree and trapped under the soul-sucking fluorescent lights of a corporate office (truly the most sinister dark magic of all), I found my way back to her teachings. Counting stitches became my escape. My needle was my wand, and every little 'X' was a tiny, pixelated act of rebellion against a painfully mundane routine.

But as my passion grew, I realized the patterns I was finding online didn't quite match the beautiful storms in my head. I craved designs that felt like pieces of art; designs with personality, darkly funny undertones, and a heavy touch of the macabre. In 2022, fueled by a love for everything witchy, occult, macabre.. gothic, dark humor, weirdcore, and recently harmonized with a bit of dark cottagecore aesthetics, I decided to create my own.

I quit the corporate world, traded my keyboard for a broomstick and RavenCoven /RavenStitchCraft was born.

Made for Misfits & Shadow Crafters

Today, I am proud to be the sole designer behind every single pattern you see here.. (While my wonderful warlock husband handles the techy and boring side of things and masterminds our iconic events.. the dark arts are all me)

The patterns are NOT generated by AI

In the past, I occasionally used the ethically trained generative tools available inside Photoshop to create decorative backgrounds or outer frames for some promotional images.. These elements were never part of the patterns, charts, or actual design process.

I am now phasing those backgrounds out as well..

Cross-stitch is a tactile, slow, and deeply human craft. I want the designs representing RavenCoven to reflect exactly that.. Every color palette, every ancient symbol, and every chart is built and reviewed by me. No AI-generated soulless patterns here.. just a real person spending hours making sure your next project is visually striking and an absolute joy to stitch..

Wondering how?

In our apothecary of patterns, you will find:

  • The Macabre & Mythological: From fallen seraphims to Victorian mourning culture.

  • Nature’s Oddities: Moths, poisonous mushrooms, and dramatically moody florals.

  • Unapologetic Pride: Because the shadows are inclusive, and queer joy belongs everywhere.

  • Quick Bites & Epic Quests: Small, ridiculous designs you can finish before your next existential dread kicks in, alongside atmospheric pieces you can lose yourself in for months.

  • Signature Monochrome Woodcuts: The Coven's absolute staple.. Striking, single-color designs inspired by ancient woodblock prints that look exactly like illustrations torn from a 16th-century forbidden grimoire. (Highly recommended for those days when you simply lack the emotional capacity to change thread colors)

More Than a Pattern Shop

RavenCoven has never felt like just a store to me.. It is a sanctuary for misfits, a growing grimoire of stories, and a beautifully strange community of crafters..

Through our Patreon, we’ve built an amazing circle of "Ravens" where I share exclusive designs, behind-the-scenes chaos, and free patterns. My absolute favorite part of this job is seeing what happens after a pattern leaves my cauldron.. The fabric you choose, the little tweaks you make, and the way the design breathes in your hands.. the spaces where you hang your finished pieces.. it all becomes part of the magic we are conjuring together..

You don't need to dress entirely in black, belong to a specific subculture, or sign away your soul at a crossroads to be here (we already have plenty of those on file). You only need a little patience, some thread, and a willingness to repeatedly stab something thousands of times to create art.

Thank you for supporting an independent artist, for stitching my designs, and for helping this little coven grow into something bigger than I ever imagined.

Grab your needle, pull up a chair, and let’s make some magic.

Best Witches,

Gizem 🖤🖤
